The British filmmaker will receive the honor together with Emma Thomas and Ted Sarandos.
Fresh from winning his first Oscar for best director thanks to Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan will receive the rank of knight becoming Sir Christopher Nolan together with producer and partner Emma Thomas, who will receive the title of Dame.
The award is given by Re Carlo III which also awarded Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos as Honorary Commander of the Order of the British Empire, according to a document released by the British government. The Foreign Office has the power to recommend honorary awards for citizens of countries that do not have a king as head of state, as happened in the past for Steven Spielberg and Angelina Jolie.
The golden year of Christopher Nolan
2024 is proving to be a golden year for Christopher Nolan, who in Oppenheimer told the story of the physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy), head of the scientific direction of the Manhattan Project which led to the construction of the first atomic bomb.
Ted Sarandos commented on the honor he received:“The UK's brilliance, high quality craftsmanship and state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities make it an amazing place to invest. We couldn't be more excited to be part of this creative community and it's a real honour”.
