Mental health will be among the themes of the new season. The official plot has been released.
It is not summer but autumn, “when the leaves fall”, the exit window of the season 3 of Heartstopper. And thanks to a video just shared by Netflix in their social channels, we can be even more precise: the new eight chapters of the love story between Nick and Charlie, as well as the queer stories of their group of friends, will be available in streaming a ottobre.
Heartstopper: What awaits us in season 3
The video shows some behind-the-scenes moments of the eighth and final episode, the scenes of which will be set partly in an amusement park. “Things got hot,” he teases Kit Connor. “The tension is high. There's sexual tension, love… We're very busy.” And this would seem like good news, considering that the previous season ended on a note of uncertainty, with Nick apparently hesitant to send his boyfriend a text message that read “I love you.”
According to the official plot of season 3, the next time we meet the two lovers the question will still be this, but certainly not only this. Charlie (Joe Locke) would like to tell Nick that she loves him. Nick also has something important to say to Charlie. As the months pass and summer vacation ends, the friends begin to realize that the school year will come with its joys and its challenges. As they learn more about each other and their relationships, plan social events and parties, and begin to think about college choices, they all must learn to rely on those they love when life doesn't go according to plan.

Season 2 ended with Nick starting to understand the extent of Charlie's mental health issues, and that's what will drive the story through Season 3. Although Heartstopper will always celebrate joy and focus on hope, I'm so excited that we're allowing the tone of the series to mature as our beloved characters grow. Mental health, sex, college ambitions and more: Nick, Charlie and the boys from Heartstopper they are growing up, learning more about themselves and others, and experiencing new desires, new fears, and new joys as they approach adulthood.”
