Based on Wondery’s hit podcast of the same name, Dying for Sex is the story of a woman (Williams) diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer who leaves her husband of 15 years and begins to explore her sexuality. She receives the courage and support to undertake this adventure from her best friend, who remains by her side until her end.

Second Deadline, the project had been in the works for years and negotiations to bring it to TV only started again last spring, before the strikes. Meriwether and Rosenstock are credited as showrunners and executive producers along with Headland, Meriwether’s longtime collaborator Katherine Pope, and Nikki Boyer, host and co-creator of the podcast Dying for Sex. For Michelle Williams it is a return to TV after Fosse/Verdon. In recent times, in fact, the actress has made herself more appreciated in the cinema. Her last role, Mitzi Fabelman in The Fabelmans by Steven Spieberg, earned her her fifth Oscar nomination and also won her a Golden Globe.
