Yellowstoneare Paramountwith protagonist Kevin Costner as the iconic John Dutton he tells the impossible dream of an eternal past. The series follows the events of the Dutton family, owners of a ranch in Montana, who find themselves threatened by developers hunting for land, as well as being in constant conflict with the adjacent Yellowstone National Park and the local indigenous reserve.
Yellowstone has achieved great success around the world, including in Montana, although some residents believe the series ruins the ranches’ reputation. This great success led the series to obtain spin-offs, titled 1883 e 1923. And they won’t be the only ones: Paramount has ordered two more.
The return of the fifth season of Yellowstone
As for the fifth season, the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes slowed down filming, in addition to the complicated situation with Kevin Costner (who spoke of his exit).
But now we have an idea of when we will be able to see the new episodes: the second part of the fifth season of Yellowstone will arrive in November 2024.
Two new spin-offs ordered by Paramount
As reported Deadline, Paramount has greenlit two new spinoff series: 1944 (working title) and 2024 (working title). Like the parent series, the new series are produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios.
The two new series will follow the two prequels 1883 (which told the story of how the Duttons settled in Montana) e 1923 (which showed how the Dutton family has become increasingly important in Montana), but it’s not yet clear how they will connect to the story.
Also, it hasn’t been confirmed yet, but it looks like it Matthew McConaughey will be the main face of 2024 and the cast will also include actors from the mother series.
Chris McCarthy, President/CEO of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios commented on the news:
