The first details on the story
The Sicilian location of the sixteenth-century Villa De Simone Achates Wirz acts as the backdrop to the story. Here Gerard Butler, Oscar Isaac and Franco Nero recorded both in the park and in the halls with majolica and coffered roofs, before moving to Rome and Florence to continue filming.
At the center of the story is the search for the original manuscript of the Divine Comedy who emerges into a black market smuggling ring in the dangerous underbelly of New York City. Disillusioned scholar Nick is called in to authenticate it. Overwhelmed by temptation, Nick challenges the mob and steals the manuscript in a frantic attempt to possess it for himself. It follows a dark and violent path from a metaphorical one Inferno al Paradiso which even sees the scholar involved in a love story.
