Andrea Giambruno will no longer appear on video on Rete 4 to present Diario del giorno, but the journalist, former partner of Giorgia Meloni, will not be fired by Mediaset: here’s what he will do.
Andrea Giambruno he won’t leave Mediaset ma he will no longer host Diary of the day, the Rete 4 program of which he was at the helm. Giorgia Meloni’s now ex-partner will no longer appear on the video, but he will not leave the company either: the journalist will continue to take care of the editorial coordination, which means that the responsibility for the contents aired remains, at least formally, with him.
After the fuss raised by compromising outsiders released by Striscia la Notizia, which also cost Giambruno the end of his relationship with the prime minister, the Mediaset leaders stalled for a few days before making a decision. Which arrived in the evening and was made public with a meager statement: “Andrea Giambruno, sorry for the embarrassment and inconvenience created by his behavior, has agreed with the company to leave the video hosting of the Diario del giorno program, for which he will continue to take care of the editorial coordination“.
However, the troubles are not over for Giorgia Meloni’s ex-partner, who remains awaiting another verdict. In addition to the necessary checks by Mediaset, the Order of Journalists of Lombardy had reported it to the Territorial Disciplinary Council for “scurrilous and harassing attitudes“. The nine journalists of the Council will now decide whether Giambruno should be sanctioned or not, with possibilities ranging from a simple “reprimand” to expulsion from the Order.
