When there are just a few days left until the launch of the new advertising campaign Bleu de Chanelthey pop up behind the scenes photos and videos that portray the testimonial Timothée Chalamet and the director Martin Scorsese.

In the video we see Chalamet and Scorsese on set in various locations in New York City filming the campaign which, as Scorsese explains, takes the original idea of 2010’s Bleu de Chanel and updates it to the current idea of fame and celebrity worship. “The world has changed, celebrity is experienced in an even more extreme way than ten or 15 years ago”says the director.

The spot follows Timothée Chalamet while he performs a “sort of caricature” about himself and what his life as an actor might look like from the outside, as he appears in a film playing a character named Simon who is “married to his art more than his relationships”. We see Chalamet give a manic Tom Cruise-esque performance on a talk show or film romantic scenes in the rain from the film within the film. In the end, Scorsese says, it’s about the “conflict between celebrity and wanting to remain faithful to the nature of an artist, avoiding the limelight from changing who you are”.

Wonka, the director gained 23 kilos by eating chocolate: “It’s a miracle that Chalamet remained so thin”

For Timothée Chalamet, working with a legend like Martin Scorsese, with whom he also shares the bond with his hometown, was a dream come true. “It is one of the greatest honors, if not the greatest honor of my career, to be able to work with Martin Scorsese in New York”he states in the short documentary. “I’m a New York guy, I’m a New York actor, I’m checking a huge item off my personal bucket list.”

Starting from December 14th we will be able to appreciate Timothée Chalamet in Wonka, a reboot of the classic Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory directed by Paul King. Chalamet is at the center of the new Italian Wonka trailer released yesterday.
