The Boy and the Heron, the latest work by Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, released in cinemas on January 1, 2024, will be premiered at Alice nella Città and at the Rome Film Festival in October!
Not everyone will have to wait that long to see it in the theater The boy and the heronthe highly anticipated new work by Hayao Miyazaki and of Studio Ghibli: l’anime it will in fact be presented in preview ad Alice in the Citywithin the scope of Rome Festival which will take place from 18 to 26 October. An opportunity to get ahead of the curve, because as we already know Lucky Red placed the film’s release in Italian theaters for the January 1, 2024.

The boy and the heron Of Hayao Miyazaki tells the story of It will be donea twelve year old who for see his mother again ventures into a kingdom where the living and the dead coexist, and where the boundaries between life and death are redefined in a visionary key. For the story Miyazaki was inspired by the novel “How Do You Live?” (international title), written in 1937 by Yoshino Genzaburō. That said, the feature film is not a faithful adaptation of it, using it as a spark of one personal reflection by master Hayao on life, creation and friendship.
The directors of Alice in the City, Fabia Bettini e Gianluca Giannellithus commented on the news of this prestigious one national preview: “Miyazaki will enter history with all the uniqueness of style and with a language full of symbols, references, universal metaphors, between real and magical, between superstition and fairy tale; with all its themes related to the human being, to physical and internal transformation. An existential and imaginary testament given to the public, to learn to live and to overcome certain selfishness and egocentrism“.
