What do they have to do with it Alba Rohwacher e Monica Vitti?
They have something to do with it. And not just because both are actresses.
They fit into a film where Rohrwacher plays Monica, a woman who loses her memory and finds a way to give meaning to her life by identifying with the characters in the films played by Monica Vitti. About her He dresses like her, imitates her, recreates scenes from her films. Edward, who is played by Filippo Timi and who loves her deeply, let this game become their new reality…
The film in question is My hair hurtsnew film directed by Roberta Torre which will be presented as a world premiere in Competition at the Rome Film Festival 2023and that will come later in cinemas on October 20th with I Wonder Pictures and Unipol Biografilm Collection.
Here’s what Roberta Torre said about her film:
«This film tells the life of Monica, who has begun to forget and desperately searches for something to hold on to when she feels she is losing parts of her memories. She finds it in the characters of Monica Vitti’s films, the woman who was able to be all possible women by describing them with their weaknesses and fragilities, in their comic and tragic parts. The actress who combines laughter with tears and allows us to show the woman in all her ways of being, without stereotypes, with humanity. The theme of this film is also the loss of emotional, historical memory. Memory and identity are deeply linked, by erasing the past the identity disappears. Is borrowing a memory possible to rediscover yourself? This question guided me in the story of the film. And again: is forgetting necessary? Clear cache, make space, clean up. It is a film that talks about ghosts and, in a certain sense, evokes them, questions them or more simply wants to spend time with them, whether comical or divine. Cinema allowed me once again to feel that only a thin wall made of light and frames separates us from dreams. And that’s why I keep making films.”
