He was a cousin of Sophia Bush – Don Stefano Segalini, a priest – to discover that he has a “famous cousin” by doing some research on the internet. On Facebook he tracked down a distant cousin and was put in touch with Maureen, Sophia Bush’s mother. The story of the Segalinis, as Don Stefano tells on social media, begins with Giuseppe Segalini who at the end of the 19th century left Italy together with his wife Lucia Paganelli to seek his fortune in New York. The two conceived four children and brought them to Italy. Two of them, including Mario (Sophia’s great-grandfather), returned to the USA in the 1930s. Maureen is the daughter of Maria Anna Segalini, daughter of Mario. Don Stefano Segalini thought it best, then, to bring the whole family together by organizing a weekend in Piacenza and its surroundings dedicated to memories, and Sophia Bush accepted the invitation.

In Piacenza Sophia Bush had the opportunity to exchange memories and photos with her relatives and, as reported by the Courier of Bologna, to savor the delicacies of the table and the gastronomic specialties in a farmhouse in the area. On Instagram the actress posted a carousel of photos in which she shows herself together with her large Italian family and wrote: “It took years to organize this reunion thanks to which almost 50 family members found themselves in the country we come from . 5 generations exchanging stories, photographs and laughing together. Home. My heart. My heart. Italy”.
