All the light we don't see: an exclusive video reveals behind the scenes of the miniseries

Netflix just released a video which reveals behind the scenes and exclusive interviews of All the light we don’t see, the groundbreaking miniseries based on the best-selling and Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name by Anthony Doerr, directed by Shawn Levy and written by Steven Knight. The four-episode miniseries will be available only on Netflix, in all countries where the service is active, from November 2, 2023.

The protagonist Marie-Laure LeBlanc is played by debuting actresses Aria Mia Loberti and Nell Sutton (Marie-Laure as a young woman). At their side Mark Ruffalo (Daniel LeBlanc), Hugh Laurie (Uncle Etienne), Louis Hofmann (Werner), Lars Eidinger (Von Rumpel) and Marion Bailey (Madame Manec).

The miniseries is produced by Shawn Levy, Dan Levine and Josh Barry for 21 Laps Entertainment (Stranger Things, The Adam Project, Darkness and Bones, Arrival, Free Guy). Steven Knight also serves as executive producer, while Joe Strechay (See, The OA) serves as associate producer and blindness and accessibility consultant.

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, All the Light We Cannot See is a miniseries that follows the story of Marie-Laure, a blind French girl, and her father, Daniel LeBlanc, who escape German-occupied Paris with a legendary diamond to prevent it from falling into the hands of the Nazis. Hunted relentlessly by a cruel Gestapo officer who wants to take possession of the precious stone for his personal interest, Marie-Laure and Daniel soon find refuge in St. Malo, where they go to live with a solitary uncle who spreads clandestine broadcasts for the resistence.

In this once idyllic seaside town, Marie-Laure’s path inevitably crosses that of an unlikely soul mate: Werner, a brilliant teenager enlisted by Hitler’s regime to track down illegal broadcasts, who instead possesses a secret bond with Marie-Laure. Laure and with her trust in humanity and her hope. Artfully weaving together the lives of Marie-Laure and Werner over the course of a decade, All the Light We Cannot See tells the story of the incredible power of bonds between people, a beacon of light that can guide us even in the darkest of times.
