Tonight on Cielo at 9.15pm appointment with the space adventures of Into Darkness – Star Trek, 2013 sci-fi film directed by JJ Abrams. Twelfth film of the interstellar saga, together with the subsequent “Star Trek Beyond” – scheduled for September 13th again on Cielo – and the previous Star Trek – The Future Begins – broadcast a week ago – makes up the prequel trilogy of the immense media franchise which contains within it a multitude of series and films that have followed one another from the 1960s onwards.
When the Enterprise returns to Earth following a controversial galactic incident, the indomitable Captain Kirk is eager to return to the stars for a new and longer mission of peace and exploration. However, things are not going well on the Blue Planet at all. A devastating terrorist attack has revealed an alarming reality and Starfleet has suffered an attack from within with disastrous global consequences. Captain Kirk will lead the Enterprise on an incredible mission ranging from the Klingon planet to San Francisco Bay. The enemy lurking aboard the Enterprise has one goal: total destruction. Kirk will guide his companions into a deceptive realm of mirrors where they have never entered before, penetrating the thin line between friends and enemies, revenge and justice, grappling with all-out war and the potential of a united future.
The film stars once again Chris Pine (Captain James T. Kirk) and Zachary Quinto (Spock). Zoe Saldana (Nyota Uhura) also returns while Benedict Cumberbatch plays the role of Khan Noonien Singh. Alice Eve is Carol Marcus, Karl Urban is Leonard McCoy, Simon Pegg plays Montgomery Scott and John Cho is Hikaru Sulu. Anton Yelchin is Pavel Chekov, Bruce Greenwood plays Christopher Pike and Leonard Nimoy returns as the elder Spock.
