During its broadcast, The Office it definitely featured some amazing couples, which stuck in our minds. One of the most loved is undoubtedly the one formed by Jim and Dwight, played by John Krasinski and Rainn Wilson. During an interview, Krasinski said that he auditioned with Wilson to get the part, and that he felt very frustrated at the idea of working with him since he was practically perfect for the part.
John Krasinski talked about auditioning for The Office and the difficulty of acting with Rainn Wilson
It seems that during the auditions Rainn Wilson proved that he was practically perfect for the role of Dwight, sparking the irritation of his future co-star. These are John Krasinski’s words in this regard: “We went to auditions once, I did it with everyone. I remember the one with Rainn. We started doing this improv and as soon as we started, I started getting legitimately frustrated not only as Jim, in the scene, but also as John Krasinski that Rainn Wilson stole the scene from me. At the end of the audition I thought: ‘I’ll punch you in the face’”. Given the relationship that was created between the two actors, we can definitely say with certainty that it’s not the first impression that really counts.

According to what Rainn Wilson said during an interview, however, it wasn’t always easy being on the set of the series that made him so famous. While I was on ‘The Office,’ I spent several years really, mostly unhappy because it wasn’t enough”, Rainn Wilson revealed, explaining that at the time he couldn’t be satisfied with his careerand then continued: “I was making hundreds of thousands but I wanted millions. I was a TV star, but I wanted to be a movie star. It was never enough”. He also stated that today he can recognize how lucky he was to work on the set of The Office, but that at the time he couldn’t enjoy it all: “This is what I’m looking at now and realizing now: I’m on a hit show, nominated for Emmys every year, I’m making a lot of money working with, like, Steve Carell and Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski and all these amazing writers and incredible directors like Paul Feig. I’m on one of the biggest shows on television. People love it. I wasn’t enjoying it. I thought, ‘Why am I not a movie star? Why am I not the next Jack Black or the next Will Ferrell? Why can’t I have a career in film?’”
