Red, white, and blue blood, the director recalls Taylor Zakha Perez’s bizarre request on set
Available on Prime Video, Red, White and Blue Blood tells of how the son of the first female president of the United States and the nephew of the king (Prince Henry) from enemies first become friends and then lovers. While filming the film, Matthew Lopez told Entertainment Weekly that he had a particularly special moment embarrassing on set, after Taylor Zakhar Perez asked for his support. But for what? Apparently, the actor would have asked the director for a comparison before shooting an intimate scene with the co-star, as hesitant due to his hair. At that point Matthew Lopez admitted that he had requested the presence of the beauty team as witnesses of what happened:
I walk into Taylor’s trailer — we’ve been shooting this movie for about five, six weeks at this point — and Karen looks at Taylor and says, ‘Okay, tell him what you told me,’ and he says, ‘I don’t know if I should shave. or not,’. I thought, ‘Your face?’ and he replies, “No, honey.” So I say, ‘Okay, okay, what are you going to do about it?’ He says, ‘Just watch, okay?’ I had my hairdresser and make-up artist with me as escorts, because I didn’t want my career to end before it started. At which point Taylor drops his pants and asks me to check. I answer: ‘You’re fine, fine!’. (…) I couldn’t believe my working day started like that. In any case, I reassured him.
For Matthew Lopez, Red, White and Blue blood was his first feature film. Previously, however, she worked mostly on Broadway as reported Screen Rant. Meanwhile, the public wonders about a possible sequel, a topic already addressed by the director.
