Photos and performances from the annual Isle of MTV: the international music festival
MTV has conquered Malta’s iconic Il-Fosos Square with Isle of MTV Malta, the annual music festival that has been held on the island since 2007, while previous editions had taken place in Portugal, France, Spain and Italy, in Trieste. Tens of thousands attended performances by co-headliners OneRepublic and Alesso, Tom Grennan, Mimi Webb and special guest Delta Goodrem. Local stars The Busker and Kevin Paul also performed.
During the event Grammy-nominated band OneRepublic got the crowd going by singing their hit hits ‘Apologize’, ‘Runaway’ and ‘I Ain’t Worried’ before showering them with confetti during the iconic ‘Counting Stars’.
Multi-platinum producer and DJ Alesso delivered an unforgettable show, enhanced with special effects and including many of his global dance anthems in the set list, including ‘Calling (Lose My Mind)’, ‘If I Lose Myself’ and upcoming single ‘Call Your Name’, which features John Newman.
Singer-songwriter Tom Grennan, with his suave voice and hit hits ‘Found What I’ve Been Looking For’, ‘How Does It Feel’ and ‘Little Bit of Love’ has created the perfect sunset setlist.
Shortly before, Mimi Webb had the whole square dancing with her songs ‘House on Fire’ and ‘Red Flags’. Australian singer Delta Goodrem brought her biggest hits to the Isle of MTV stage, such as ‘Innocent Eyes’, ‘Lost Without you’ and the debut of her new single ‘Back To Your Heart’.
Maltese fans were thrilled to see island superstars The Busker and Kevin Paul on stage kick off the festival earlier in the evening.
Isle of MTV Malta, Europe’s largest free festival, is operated in partnership with the Malta Tourism Authority. The show offers fans the chance to witness performances by some of the biggest stars in the world, including Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, David Guetta and Martin Garrix.
The show was also live streamed on Pluto TV, Paramount’s all-free FAST digital service, on VH1+ and will be available on-demand on Paramount+ later this year.
A special of the show will be broadcast on September 15 at 21:00 on MTV (Sky channel 131 and streaming on NOW) and MTV Music (Sky channels 132 and 704) internationally in more than 150 countries.
