Six months after the sudden death of Lisa Marie Presleythe Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiners has revealed the cause of death of the daughter of the King of Rock. The coroner ruled that death was caused by “a small bowel obstruction caused by scar tissue that developed after previous bariatric surgery years ago”. Elvis Presley’s daughter died on January 12 at the age of 54.

The coroner confirmed that Presley was found unconscious at her home, then transported to the hospital, where she died in a manner referred to as “natural”. Yahoo Entertainment confirmed reports from TMZ that the musician had been rushed to intensive care after suffering suspected cardiac arrest.

After the first autopsy, the cause of Lisa Marie’s death was postponed, and coroner’s spokeswoman Sarah Ardalani said: “Deferred means that after an autopsy, the cause of death has not been determined and the coroner requests further investigation into the death, including further studies. Once the investigations/studies are concluded, the coroner re-evaluates the case and makes the determining the cause of death”.

Yesterday TMZ also stated that the toxicology report released along with the cause of death, reports the presence of “therapeutic levels of oxycodone”, as well as the opioid buprenorphine, used to treat chronic pain and opioid addiction, in his system. There were also “traces” of the drug quetiapine, used to treat depression, anxiety and schizophrenia. The report finds that Lisa Marie Presley, who has long struggled with drug addiction and alcoholism, was prescribed opioids for a cosmetic procedure late last year.
