Vanessa Kirby and Pom Klementieff starred together in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and during an interview with Collider, they praised the working method of Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise on the set of the franchise, recalling an anecdote.

Pom Klementieff pointed out:“I think they cast the actors and then build the character around the actor’s abilities and around what the actor inspires them and the conversations they’re having. They also rehearse what makeup and hairstyles fit the character best. It takes a long time to create the character but it also gives a lot of freedom to the actor.”.

Vanessa Kirby told a juncture of the work on the set, when they had to do 40 takes just to pick up a key:“We did 40 takes to pick up a key, and it was so fun because you actually realize 30 takes that you’re thinking like a performer and yeah, you’re just picking up a key but I thought ‘How many ways can a human being take a key?'”.

Both confirmed that the time that was given to taking care of the smallest details of the shooting, which can later be helped by the editing, was fundamental: “We are so used to one or two takes in films when the budget is low” he added Kirby.
