Director Ladj Ly will present the world premiere of his new film Les Indésirables during the 2023 edition of the Toronto Film Festival.

The organization of the cinematographic event has announced the first title of the program of this edition, waiting for the announcements of the coming weeks.

The second work of the French director

During the 2023 Toronto Film Festival, in addition to Les Indésirables, Next Goal Wins, directed by Taika Waititi, will also be screened in world premiere.
The French feature brought director Ladj Ly back behind the camera after the success of Les Miserables, which won the Jury Prize at Cannes in 2019. In the following months, it won several Césars and was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Film category in foreign language.

The official TIFF description of the new feature states: “Les Indésirables is a current story of the current tale of a revolution, beautifully capturing a key moment in history“.
Alexis Manenti will play a young actor who inherits the role of mayor in a suburban city after the sudden death of his predecessor. The young man wants to continue the policies of those who preceded him, who dreamed of rehabilitating this neighborhood inhabited by workers. Anta Diaw will then play a French woman from Mali and she lives in a dilapidated apartment building and she refuses to see her family leave.
Among the performers there are also Jeanne Balibar, Steve Tientcheu and Aristote Luyindula.
