The fifth edition of the festival dedicated to short travel films will be held from 11 to 15 July 2023, between Fluminimaggiore, Buggerru and Iglesias.
L’Andaras Traveling Film Festival it may be a small event, but special for more than one reason. We at Comingsoon.it were there last year, and we saw with our own eyes the splendid natural scenery of the Costa delle Miniere that hosts it, as well as touched by hand the enthusiasm, passion and competence of the team of young people who organize it .
It is with great pleasure, therefore, that we announce its fifth edition, which will be held from 11 to 15 July among the historic localities of Fluminimaggiore e buggere la new enrty Iglesias.
Dedicated to short travel cinema, but at the same time with great attention to the discovery of the territory, cultures and local communities, theAndaras Traveling Film Festival finds its uniqueness in the ability to stimulate minds and make Sardinia known through a refined and international cinematographic offer, with guests and debates on the major social issues of rights and the environment, and to involve anyone who participates in the festival on an emotional level with experiences immersive in the indisputable natural beauty of the Sardinian territory.
Andaras returns in 2023 with a program full of novelties, in the name of lightness and essentiality: the title of this year’s edition will in fact be “Travel Light”and to travel light at a time of Andaras Traveling Film Festival this year will be, among others, Valentina Lodoviniwho will be president of the competition jury, and the special guest Matthew Martariwho speaks together with all the cast and crew of the film Girls don’t cry by director Andrea Zuliani.
“Traveling Lightly” – the title of this edition – is an invitation to the freedom to move without restrictions, carrying only the essentials, leaving at home that weight that nails us to a present that is sometimes too threatening.
For five evenings, at sunset, meetings with artists, actors, photographers, film-makers, reporters, managers, will precede the screenings of the competing films, in a continuous exchange of experiences with those who have placed the theme at the center of their artistic career of the trip.
It starts on July 11 with Massimo Sestini, the award-winning author of the famous aerial shot of a boat full of migrants in the summer of 2014, a symbol of the migration crisis in the Mediterranean. The photojournalist inaugurates the exhibition dedicated to him. Ten of Sestini’s shots, among the most popular, are exhibited along the streets of Fluminimaggiore, where they remain posted for a year, bearing witness to 40 years of history of costume, politics and society in our country.
It continues on July 12 on the beach of San Nicolò, in Buggerru, with the Music Live Experience di Fabio Tallo, Sardinian artist author of authentic soundscapes. Audio creations that start from the acquisition of environmental, urban and natural sounds, remodeled and engraved in the new EP ‘Scisto’ by Wild Drone Music.
The morning of July 13, 2023 is the turn of Meditation Experience edited by Giovanni Marceddu, director of a renowned meditation and personal growth center in Cagliari, author of the book “We all rest our heads to rest” (Dialoghi editions), which will be presented on the sidelines of the Meditation experience.
On July 14 on the suggestive beach of Masua in Porto Flavia appointment at sunset with the concert of Ilaria Porceddu (former competitor of XFactor, second in Sanremo Giovani 2023) ed Emanuele Contisthe duo of Sardinian artists who propose music made of contaminations of styles and unity of purpose and above all of passion for music.
Grand finale on 15 July in Fluminimaggiore for the final ATFF23 evening, with a cultural aperitif and a meeting with the cast of the film “Girls don’t cry”, the on-the-road dramedy on diversity and integration by director Andrea Zuliani, with Matteo Martari, Emma Benini, Anastasia Doaga, Francesca Scanu. Following, the award ceremony of the winning works in the competition, with the delivery of the prizes and final party.
They will be on the jury together with Valentina Lodovini Monica Nappo – Neapolitan actress and interpreter of great films including the international film To Rome with Love di Woody Allen – e Saverio Pesapanefounder of Premiere Film Distribution.
The jurors will award the prizes to the winning works among the 27 in the competition divided into six different categories:
1. “Super Shorts”
both fiction and documentary short films with a maximum duration of 180 seconds;
non-fiction short films with a maximum duration of 20 minutes;
3. “Narrative Shorts”
dedicated to fiction short films with a maximum duration of 20 minutes;
4. “Gazes from the World”
freestyle category dedicated to experimental, fiction and documentary shorts with a maximum duration of 15 minutes;
animated short films with a maximum duration of 15 minutes;
6. “Andaras Noas” (New Paths)
dedicated to fictional stories, of maximum 20 minutes, which tell of new beginnings and the moments before a new journey
