Fans have no doubts: the theatrical release of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has been postponed to allow the studio to replace Jonathan Majors.
In the last few hours, fans have taken Twitter by storm to discuss the announcement regarding the release dates of the films of Phase 5 and 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Avengers: The Kang Dynastyaccording to some theorymay have slipped due to the recasting at Kangfollowing the arrest and harassment allegations involving Jonathan Majors.
Marvel Studios has revealed that six of its upcoming projects will be delayed, and while many believe it’s all due solely to the writers’ strike, other users are convinced that at least some of it has to do with Majors. Recall that the actor initially appeared as Loki, only to make his film debut in the MCU this year as the main antagonist of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
Majors was praised for his portrayal of Kang the Conqueror, setting the stage for the multiverse Saga’s big bad. However, just a month after the release of Ant-Man 3, Majors was arrested on assault, strangulation and molestation charges following an alleged domestic dispute with his fiancée.
With his case still ongoing, Jonathan Majors’ fate in the MCU is uncertain and this wouldn’t be the first time Marvel has replaced an actor or director for such a reason – just think of when the studio fired James Gunn in 2018 for his offensive tweets posted years earlier.
