The new series set in the Star Wars galaxy will debut on Disney+ on August 23rd.
During a new interview granted to Collider, Dave Filoni revealed some details about Ahsoka, the new Star Wars series coming to Disney+. Apparently, the author started working on it long before the release of de The awakening of the Force.
“Even when I wrote the epilogue for Rebels, I thought, ‘If I go forward with this project, it must be a different challenge.’ And the challenge would have been live-action. I wanted to fix these things about her, but I wanted to do something new. Kathy Kennedy knew of my interest in live-action and she was looking for a way for me to take that leap. So he took me to set, because I wasn’t used to it at all, and I sat there watching JJ (Abrams, in The Force Awakens), Rian (Johnson, in The Last Jedi) and Gareth (Edwards, in Rogue One).
Dave Filoni then worked closely with Jon Favreau and the two developed The Mandalorian, which turned out to be the perfect place for Ahsoka to debut in live-action:
“I had to immerse myself in the making of Mando, but I always had an eye for it“, he said. “Jon already knew when we were developing Mando that Ahsoka was a character I had in mind, so he and I started discussing Rosario Dawson as early as Season 1. I thought she would be the right person to play Ahsoka“.
