The director-actress duo of the excellent Shiva Baby, one of the most interesting US indies of recent years, is back with a truly unusual high school comedy. Here is the Bottoms red band trailer.
As already told and explained at the time of the film’s debut on THE BAD (here the review), Shiva Baby was one of the most interesting US indie titles of recent times, as well as the debut of an author and an actress who gave hope for other remarkable things.
Not Emma Seligman e Rachel Sennottdirector and protagonist of Shiva Babythey return to the cinema – at least in America… – with a new, irreverent comedy that sees Elizabeth Banks involved as a producer. She’s titled Bottomsand tells the story of two lesbian girls in their last year of high school (late night e Ayo Edebiriseen in The Beabid Abbott Elementary) who, in order to finally be able to attend the cheerleaders of their school and take revenge on the usual trivial and obtuse football players who have bullied them for years, invent an all-female school fight club.
Seligman e Sennott they also wrote the script for the film together, and round out the cast as well Havana Rose Liu, Kaia Gerber, Nicholas Galitzine, Dagmara Dominczy e Marshawn Lynch.
Bottomsof which we present below the trailer red bandor in its explicit version, was presented in world premiere at SXSWand the critics have been averagely enthusiastic: at the moment he scores a 96% positive on Rotten Tomatoes. We hope to be able to see it soon too in Italy, in theaters or on the platform.
Bottoms is a foul-mouthed and original comedy about how two girls, PJ and Josie, form a fight club to lose their virginity to their school’s cheerleaders. Their bizarre plan works. Fight club catches on, and soon the most popular girls in high school are beating each other up in the name of self-defense. But PJ and Josie will end up in trouble and need a way out before their plan is discovered.
