Ted Lasso just wrapped up, and many fans are convinced there’s a spin-off in the works. The plan has always been to end the show after three seasons, but most of the cast never claimed this was the official ending.
While Jason Sudeikis (face of Ted Lasso) confirmed that “this is the end of the story we wanted to tell”, there could certainly be more stories in the world of AFC Richmond. Lately, Nick Mohammed (interpreter of Nate Shelley) has in fact spoken of the idea of a spin-off and what he thinks could be the future of Nate:
“No, no, I actually didn’t,” Mohammed revealed when asked if he ever thought about Nate’s future. “Well, sometimes I do. We always hear these rumors about a possible spin-off, but I’m very cautious about anything, because I think Nate’s story in particular is complete. I don’t think we really need to see any or know more. I think we could leave it there, and I’d be very proud.”.
When asked if he thinks this chapter is really closed, he said:
“Totally. We obviously knew what had to happen, we read all the scripts, and we realized that once you’ve seen the whole series, you probably couldn’t wish for anything else, because so much catharsis in three seasons”.
Has continued: “Ted won’t come back, because he won’t make that mistake. He has to be with Melissa and Henry. That’s where he belongs, and that’s where he’s happy. His ending is perfect, it would be a shame to say, ‘Okay, see you later.’ next year’. If we do anything – who knows – I’m sure there will be a considerable break from the conclusion, especially if we do another series. I don’t know, we’ll see.”.
Also Brendan Huntwho in addition to being the co-creator of the TV series is the face of Coach Beard, spoke about the possibility of a spin-off:
“My friendly answer, also 100% true: we don’t know. We need a break. Nothing has been ruled out, everything is possible; but that includes the possibility that we’re done”.
