Directed by Rodrigo Gudino, The Breach was based on a horror novel by Nick Cutter, who co-wrote the script with Ian Weir. With tones that have been defined lovecraftiani by those who saw the film at the various festivals where it was screened (including the Fantasia International Film Festival and the Fright Fest), The Breach tells the story of a man named John Hawking, who is just days away from the end of the term of Chief of Police of Lone Crowe, a tiny town lost in the woods of northern Ontario. But when a body wracked with disturbing wounds surfaces on the banks of the Porcupine River, John is drawn into a whirlpool of horrific mystery that defies any possible understanding of him.
