The production of L’Isola dei Famosi released a very interesting interview to Tv Sorrisi e Canzoni in which he revealed some secrets on the Canale 5 reality showfrom who takes care of the castaways to what they are allowed to bring to the island:
Competitors undertake to respect the natural environment in which they live, safeguarding native plant and animal species and respecting the laws of the location (…) What can they bring? Two underwear sets, two shirts (short sleeve, long sleeve or tank top), two shirts or sweaters, two pants or skirts, two pairs of shoes, two pairs of socks. Then various items for intimate and personal hygiene, and three items that must necessarily be agreed with the production. Of these three, only one will be chosen to take to the island once they arrive in Honduras. The following are also granted: toothbrush, comb or brush and two disposable razors.

The production then talked about the fee and revealed that castaways have a psychologist at their disposal to contact in case of need and not only:
A medical director, a psychologist, four doctors and three nurses. The contestants carry out medical examinations every week, to check whether the physical conditions are such as to allow the castaway to continue living in a situation of food deprivation (…) The compensation? The more weeks they stay on the island, the more they earn. In case of withdrawal there is a reduction of the fee. There are some penalties, as in any contract.
