The next season of True Detective, entitled Night Country, is set in Enni – in the freezing arctic regions of Alaska – and follows the protagonist Liz Danvers (Jodie Foster) who collaborates with colleague Evangeline Navarro (Kali Reis) to solve the mysterious case of six men who disappeared without a trace.
Frances Bearshead of HBO, has provided interesting details about the new episodes:
“It will be a really profound story set in Alaska, which gives a nod to the indigenous community, the Inuit, and to some of the struggles they face in the presence of work in the mines and some of the social conflicts that continue to rage between violence and domestic abuse”.
Bears he went on to praise the great work done by issa lopezcreator, writer and director of the next chapter:
“Issa Lopez is unlike anyone I’ve ever worked with, she’s a real powerhouse. She directed all six episodes back-to-back, in the bitter cold of Iceland. On top of that, much of the production required reshoots Between her, Jodie Foster and co-star Kali Reis, they’ve managed to create something hugely impactful.”.
Still, it’s not certain that the franchise has a continuation:
“It is not certain that we will continue with the fifth, sixth and so on”.
True Detective: Night Country will be released by 2023 on HBO Max. A new teaser trailer has been released in the meantime.
