That stain that nothing can erase and makes parents impotent and unhappy becomes an obsession for Maria that precipitates her into refusing the responsibilities of her mother. Rebecca’s entire adolescence will be marked by shame and a desire to hide from others. But she from an early age she reveals extraordinary musical abilities. Aunt Erminia recognizes her talent: Rebecca becomes her pupil and the need to erase the “stain” will push her to establish herself through music. For the role of teenage Rebecca, Giordana cast the young Italian pianist Beatrice Barison.
