In Search of Wonder: the films of Alice Rohrwacher is the retrospective that MUBI has dedicated to one of the most important voices of contemporary Italian cinema.

In Search of Wonder: the films of Alice Rohrwacher and the retrospective which, as of March 2023, THE BAD dedicates to one of the most important voices of contemporary Italian cinema, Alice Rohrwacher this year in competition at the Cannes Film Festival for the third time.
The retrospective offers all the feature films of the director, winner of the Special Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival for her film The Wonders and nominated for the Academy Award for the short film Le Pupille. To enrich this retrospective also the short film Omelia Contadina, made in collaboration with the French artist JR.
For the occasion, the artist Beatrice Alemagna has reinterpreted the magical imagery of Alice Rohrwacher with some unpublished tarot illustrations inspired by her films. Heavenly Body and Happy Lazarus are also available for streaming. The director arrived at Cannes 2023 with her La chimera, which comes from the stories told in Umbria, the land that adopted her, in which stories related to grave robbers are told. Set in the 1980s, in the clandestine world of grave robbers, La chimera tells the story of a young English archaeologist (Josh O’Connor) involved in the clandestine trafficking of archaeological finds. The cast is completed by Isabella Rossellini, Carol Duarte, Alba Rohrwacher and Vincenzo Nemolato.
