Spring 1945. Blood & Gold is set in the last days of the Second World War and tells the story of the German deserter Heinrich (Robert Maaser), the brave young peasant girl Elsa (Marie Hacke) and a group of Nazis. While returning home from the front to find his daughter, Heinrich comes across a fierce squad of SS. After being hung from a tree by their leader (Alexander Scheer), he is saved at the last moment by Elsa who hides him on her farm.
Meanwhile, the SS go in search of a Jewish treasure in a nearby village, clashing with the annoyed inhabitants who want to keep the loot. Soon Heinrich and Elsa become reluctantly drawn into this adrenaline-pumping hunt for gold, culminating in a bloody showdown at the local church. Directed by Peter Thorwarth, screenwriter of The Wave, while in the cast we find Robert Maaser, Marie Hacke, Alexander Scheer, Roy McCrerey, Florian Schmidtke, Petra Zieser, Stephan Grossmann, Juri Senft, Jared Lorenzo and Tomas Karel.
