Prime Video formalizes the second season of the global spy drama which will be entirely directed by Joe Russo: also the showrunner David Weil returns.
A few hours before the release of the season 1 finale, Prime Video formalize the renewal of Citadel for a second season (a news already given by press sources a few months ago, well before the debut of the very expensive series). But that’s not all: the streaming video service has announced that the spy drama with Richard Madden e Priyanka Chopra Jonas it is the second most watched original series outside the United States and the fourth most watched globally. He also said that all episodes of the second season will be directed by Joe Russo himself (so far only involved as executive producer along with Anthony Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot and others) and that he will still be at the helm of the new chapter David Weil come showrunner.

The president of Amazon and MGM Studios Jennifer Salkewhich was also the architect of this multimillion-dollar global project, said in a statement: “Citadel it is a truly global phenomenon. The Story of Citadel: The First Episode available for free
Citadel is an imaginary independent spy agency, born with the aim of defending the safety of all people and destroyed by the agents of Manticore, a powerful association that manipulates the world in the shadows. The story of the first season starts 8 years after the destruction of Citadel, by which time all memories of the chosen agents, such as those of Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), have been erased. But at least they managed to escape.
Picking up on the night Mason was tracked down by his former Citadel colleague, Bernard Orlick (Stanley Tucci), the series goes back and forth in time revealing what really happened, as the Manticore threatens to establish a new world order. Thus follows Mason who goes in search of his former colleague Nadia, and the two spies find each other, this while having to deal with a relationship built on secrets, lies and a dangerous but timeless love. The first episode of Citadel will be available to watch for free and without a subscription on Prime Video from tomorrow May 26, when the entire first season will be available.
The international ramifications
The spy thriller, Prime Video says, continues to enjoy extraordinary success in all countries of the world, including India, Italy, Brazil, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States. It certainly has something to do with it Citadel was born as a global franchise which will group several series into a single universe. Each series is created, produced and filmed locally and stars the best local performers. After the main chapter, the ambient series will arrive in Italy and India, interpreted respectively by Matilda De Angelis (Lidia Poët’s law) is yes Varun Dhawan (Bhediya) e Samantha Ruth Prabhu (The Family Man).
