The musical The Color Purple has become a film and the trailer offers the first scenes of the project with stars Taraji P. Henson and Fantasia Barrino.

The video introduces the protagonists of the story and shows some of the musical sequences and choreography created for the adaptation of the novel by Alice Walker.
The protagonists of the film The Color Purple are Fantasia Barrino, who was the star of the musical on Broadway from 2007 to 2008, in the role of Celie and Taraji P. Henson in that of Shug.
The direction is signed by Blitz Bazawule and in the production team there are Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg.
Also starring Halle Bailey, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, Danielle Brooks, HER, Ciara, Bailey, Louis Gosset Jr., David Alan Grier, Aunjanue Ellis.
The screenplay was signed by Marcus Gardley and the plot will focus on African American families living in early twentieth century Georgia. The musical has lyrics by Marsha Norman with original compositions by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray.
The production team will include Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey, Scott Sanders, Walker, Rebecca Walker, Kristie Macosko Krieger, Carla Gardini and Mara Jacobs.
