In recent weeks, the news has been confirmed that the filming of House of the Dragon would go ahead despite the WGA’s writers’ strike. In fact, the production had already concluded the reworking of the scripts and this allowed to continue shooting the scenes of the second season between the United Kingdom and Spain.
Videos have been released from the set that could contain an important spoiler on the next chapter: the first clip shows a funeral procession accompanied by a coffin led in front of Alicent Hightower and her daughter Helaena Targaryen, while an auctioneer plays a drum recounting the exploits of “Rhaenyra the Cruel”. In the following, a large blue shape – which will be used for the CGI – is transported to King’s Landing. In the novel Fire and Blood Of George R.R. Martin the mighty dragon Meleys – ridden by Rhaenys Targaryen – falls in battle.
Also some images were revealed of Phia Saban as Queen Helaena Targaryen in Cáceres.
In the cast will also be present Matt Smith, Eve Best, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy e Steve Toussaint. Among the new faces there will be Gayle Rankin, Simon Russell Beale, Freddie Fox e Abubakar Salim.
The new episodes of the Game of Thrones prequel promise to be full of intrigue, twists and battles.
Although the writers’ strike will slow down the release of all TV series, the return of House of the Dragon on Sky and NOW is scheduled for the summer of 2024.
