With a memorandum of understanding presented today at the Cannes Film Festival, the portal promoted by the MiC – Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual and managed by Cinecittà in collaboration with the Italian Film Commission association (www.italyformovies.it) and the media company come together for the enhancement and territorial promotion of Italy and Made in Italy.
Thanks to the non-exclusive two-year agreement, Sky will enrich the content offer of the Italy for Movies portal with materials from its new productions: news from the sets, backstage, videos, interviews, curiosities about filming locations. Thanks to this exchange, Italy for Movies will be able to create factsheets for films and TV series, new travel itineraries, photo galleries and other editorial content. With an exclusive and unpublished window on particularly eagerly awaited products, the words of authors and protagonists, updates, and a new and captivating way of exploring the places and beauties of Italy.
Italy for Movies boasts a database of around 2,500 Italian locations, a search engine and numerous interactive cards, an updated story about the sets, itineraries for exploring the map of Italy and planning a trip to the most iconic film locations. In five years it has become the ‘map’ of Italian cinema for professionals and enthusiasts with a site, an app and a newspaper that offers information on production incentives for filming in Italy, and many other services for sector operators. An updated tool for professionals and an entertaining guide for everyone, because never before has Italy returned to being an open-air set for films, TV series and more and more international productions. A renewed passion of the audiovisual community, which invests the country’s boundless heritage of beauty, and the creative industry, and represents a spearhead of our cultural offer to the world.

Dialogue with international professionals, especially Americans, has recorded a 70% increase in contacts, thanks also to the precious collaboration with ITA Los Angeles and its portal “Italy meets Hollywood””.
Finally, President Sbarigia announced the production of a documentary series to tell the variety and beauty of Italian locations. “Italy offers a variety of landscapes that make it an extraordinary setting for many stories. It is no coincidence that Sky has chosen our country for many of its Sky Originals, helping to raise awareness of the Italian wonders in the world and the quality of the productions made in our country.
