Futurama, the hit animated series created by Matt Groening, is back and is in better shape than ever. Set in the 31st century, it tells the story of young Philip J. Fry who awakens a thousand years in the future after accidentally falling asleep in a cryogenic sleep pod. For seven seasons we followed his futuristic adventures, while getting used to living with alien creatures and robots and working for the company of his great-grandson, Professor Farnsworth. Futuramain fact, it originally aired on FOX from 1999 to 2003 and then returned in 2008 with three brand new seasons produced for Comedy Central. But audiences just can’t get enough of Fry, Bender, Leela and the rest of the Planet Express Crew e Matt Groening has decided to give them a new revival. Last year it was therefore announced that the animated series would have had an eighth season, which for the occasion would have been distributed by the streaming platform Hulu.
Now after ten years the protagonists of Futurama they are about to return. A new official teaser trailer, released by Hulu, has revealed when we’ll be able to watch the new episodes.
Mark this date: on July 24, the awaited first episode of the new revival of will land on the platform Futurama (which has been dubbed Hilarious to celebrate the collaboration between the series and the streaming platform). For the moment, the release date of the animated show in the United States has been announced, while we don’t know when we will be able to watch it here in Italy. We can imagine that the Disney Plus streaming platform will distribute the new episodes, since it holds the rights to Hulu-branded products. We are sure that soon we will know more details on the Italian release of the revival.
The twenty episodes that will make up the first season will keep the satirical style of the original series intact and promise to be extremely incorrect. In addition to brilliant gags and countless quotes and parodies from science fiction literature and cinematography, there will be several references to current events. The new season of Futurama it will make fun of the pandemic, cancel culture, vaccines, BitCoins and the spread of streaming. Furthermore, as we saw in the first teaser trailer, all the protagonists will return, but also characters much loved by fans such as Robot Santa, Zapp Branigan, Calculon, Mom and all the others. There will also be space to delve into the love story of Fry and Leela, which made the hearts of viewers beat faster. As for the voice actors, we will see the return of the complete cast: Billy West, Katey Sagal, John DiMaggio, Tress MacNeille , Maurice LaMarche , Lauren Tom, Phil LaMarr e David Herman.
