A post has appeared on the official pages of Gossip Girl which, according to some, would anticipate the return of the original cast: here’s what we know.
The social accounts of Gossip Girl they are back active after more than three months of silence and, according to some, it is a sign that something is boiling in the pot. A post that appeared recently made fans stand up, especially those of the original series. There are those who believe that it will soon arrive a reunion with the original cast actors and who, even, that HBO Max (soon to be called only Max) may have changed its mind about canceling the reboot. What is going on? Let’s make order.
Gossip Girl: What does the suspicious post on social media mean?
The post that has unleashed chaos on social media is the one you see below. A photo of the original cast was shared and read: “Welcome back, Upper East Siders. After a long time, I see it didn’t take you long to mess up my new beginning.” The reference, of course, is to cancellation of the recent revival announced last January after two seasons. In the photo, however, the actors of the original Gossip Girl are tagged Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick e Taylor Momsen.
It didn’t take much to ignite the enthusiasm of the fans who immediately started commenting hoping that this post was a clue to something more. “Please tell me the original actors are returning,” someone wrote. “Remember when Josh (Safran) said they wouldn’t bring back the original characters unless it was necessary???!!! Could that mean the original leads are available for a third season of the revival alongside the new cast? WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT”, is the comment of another user. Indeed, despite the promises of the authors and the requests of the fans, the protagonists of the original series have never appeared in the revival.
Showrunner Joshua Safran reacts
The screenwriter of the revival of Gossip Girl immediately thought about extinguishing the enthusiasm Tyler McCall e lo showrunner Joshua Safran. “I don’t even know what’s going on here, but I don’t think this is anything particularly exciting!!” wrote the former. Safran, who said he had nothing to do with the post, added: “I highly doubt it.” The screenwriter figured that this gimmick is only to accompany the launch of the new streaming video platform Max. “Since the account represents both the new and the old Gossip Girl and that Max launches in a week, maybe it’s just a reminder to fans that both series will be available on the platform?” he asked.
While we remain in doubt, we just have to wait to understand if this post actually anticipates some news – such as a celebratory special – or not.
