Gossip Girl, the clues about the revival with the original cast
Gossip Girl, Is second time good for revival? On Wednesday 17th May, those nostalgic for the Upper East Siders who dominated pop culture between the end of the 2000s and the 1910s jumped at a clue that has very little veiled. It all started when the official accounts of the TV series on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram published the same post depicting the original cast of the TV series in one of the many promotional shots.
“Welcome back, Upper East Siders. After a long period of absence, I see that it didn’t take you long to soil the clean slates I gave you. #Gossip Girlreads the post, alluding to an impending comeback — or event — that is poised to upend the lives of Manhattan’s scandalous elite.
Many have interpreted this message as a clue about the future of franchise. If the reboot – which never got off the ground, and which was canceled by Hbo Max after two seasons last January – didn’t hit the fans’ hearts Gossip Girl, a return of the original leads for a revival could be the right way forward. Of the historical cast only Georgina Sparks (played by Michelle Trachtenberg) was involved in a considerable way in the events of the new characters, with the occasional mentions to Serena, Dan and Blair that were not enough to hook the audience enough.

What is certain is that the streaming service Max – the rebranding of Hbo Max which will also include the discovery+ offer – is looking for highly appealing titles to be able to strengthen its identity, a strategy carried out by projects such as the live-action TV series on the saga of Harry Potter. We wouldn’t be surprised if even a revival of Gossip Girl with the historical protagonists was in the sights of Warner Bros. Discovery, but we are awaiting an official announcement.
