The winner of the twelfth edition of Amici, Mattia Zenzola, talks to Chi.
The winner of the twelfth edition of Amici, Mattia Zenzolait was told to Chi. The 19-year-old originally from Bari, interviewed by the weekly directed by Alfonso Signorini, spoke of his great redemption that took place in the school of Maria De Filippi
“I’m stunned, I’m so happy and still realizing what happened. After the win, I opened my eyes and said: “Wow*. I wondered if it was all true…it was like living a dream and I didn’t want to fall asleep anymore for fear that, when I woke up today, that dream would have vanished. I can’t explain it any better than that”
Talking about the past year and the rough times it has been through, the dancer he has declared:
“It was bad, the injury initially seemed light, but instead it was heavy, even psychologically. So I looked inside myself and tried to make the most of what was happening to me. Having to sit still, I thought I’d take that time “still” and transform it into something better. I studied, I graduated from the scientific sports high school, with 92 out of 100, and to do so I had to make up for months of absence from school. Then I got my driving license and then I did physiotherapy… In the end I returned to Amici stronger, from all points of view, more ready for the competition. Yes, difficult days serve to grow. With injuries you become more aware of your body: when you are a young dancer you always want to push, an injury makes you know yourself better, your limit. And it’s only then that you can overcome it and overcome yourself, when you are fully aware of yourself”
“Dad was ill during the Covid period – continued Mattia – I don’t know who I have to thank today for still having him with me, because at a certain point I thought of being without him: he had problems, also age-related, health problems… And my biggest fear was not to let him see how much I can achieve. I’m delighted that he has seen all this and that he will have time to see other great successes”
Mattia he then recounted the teachings he received thanks to his participation in Amici and his future projects:
“First of all, the desire to continue learning throughout my life. Friends also made me understand the importance of discipline: waking up early, finishing late and having the desire to get up an hour earlier the next day. They taught me that I have to be an athlete in every gesture I make. I want to live on art and by art I don’t mean only dance, I like art in general, I like music, I would love to record a piece, and then I like cinema. I like everything and I want to do everything.”
