Next fall Grey’s Anatomy inaugurates its twentieth television season: when will it go on again? After the departure of its titular protagonist – Ellen Pompeo is attached as executive producer and narrator, but has considerably limited her appearances on screen starting from the second half of season 19 – there were those who were willing to bet that Grey’s Anatomy she couldn’t survive Meredith Grey’s goodbye.

At this point, what could stop the medical longer-lived than television? Shonda Rhimes herself was asked about it. Currently busy promoting Queen Charlotte – the series that he created for Netflix with his production company Shondaland -, Rhimes answered the question of AND! News who wondered if there was an end in sight for Grey’s Anatomy, which Shonda is still – of course – executive producer.
“I may be quite old by the time we get to the final season, because Grey’s Anatomy doesn’t seem to be nearing its endRhimes said, adding: “which is wonderful and I feel like the world really belongs to the fans and the fans have been very clear about what they want. It’s a great show and it’s been doing so well as it continues to be renewed. Team that wins doesn’t change, and we will remain on the air as long as (the cast) wants to continue being part of it and as long as the fans want to continue watching it”.
