On September 21, 2022 it debuted on Netflix Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Storya miniseries destined to be talked about a lot. As the title clearly suggests, this 10-part series created by Ryan Murphy was centered on the story of one of the most notorious and ruthless killers of all time, il Milwaukee cannibal Jeffrey Dahmermasterfully interpreted by Evan Peters. But, apparently, Netflix has decided not to stop there.
Despite the numerous controversiesamidst the accusations of having spectacularized episodes of violence and the criticisms from the relatives of the victims for having reopened the very painful wounds, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story got a resounding success. The series starring Evan Peters, in fact, is among only four Netflix series to have reached one billion hours of viewing in the first 60 days of release. Given these extraordinary numbers, the streaming platform has decided to turn this miniseries into one anthology series, making two more seasons based on “other monstrous figures who have impacted society.” And apparently Ryan Murphy has already chosen the subject for the second season of the series.
No more Evan Peters and Monster:The Jeffrey Dahmer Story : the protagonists of the second season will be the Menéndez brothers
Through a video, Netflix announced that the second season of the anthology series Monster will tell the story of brothers Lyle and Erik Menéndezwhich in 1996 they were convicted of killing their parentsthe record executive Jose Menendez and his wife Mary Louise detta “Kitty”in their home of Beverly Hills nel 1989. During the trial, the defense attorney of the two brothers, Leslie Abramsonhe claimed that the two brothers had killed their parents out of fear, after years of sexual harassment suffered at the hands of their father. In the teaser of the series, which will no longer be called Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Storyma Monster: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, we can hear the chilling 911 call made by the two brotherspresumably shortly after committing the murder.
It is not the first time that the case of the Menéndez brothers has been brought to the screen: over the years, the story has been told through numerous documentariesand also transposed to TV series episodes come Law & Order: True Crime — The Menendez Murders. Furthermore, the story is at the center of a new docuseries license plate Peacock, Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed, in which they will be examined new statements which seem to support the thesis of the violence suffered by the two brothers. We don’t know if how Ryan Murphy’s series will address these latest developments.
