Bill Baker, an unemployed oil worker living in Oklahoma; he has a daughter that he hasn’t seen for some time and who is in prison in Marseille to serve his sentence for a murder, even though she has always pleaded innocent. Once on the spot Bill will find himself in difficulty due to language barriers, cultural differences and with a different and complicated legal system, but despite this he will do everything to prove the innocence of his daughter.
When all appears lost, Bill will know a French woman and her daughter, who will welcome him and will prove to be the only moral support on which to rely. Thanks to them, Baker will begin to look beyond, and to approach the francophone mentality and transalpine bureaucracy.
