Currently available on Netflix, The Office U.S. certainly needs no introduction. Remake dell’British series of the same name created by Ricky Gervais e Stephen Merchantthis series aired since 2005 and from 2013 it is still today considered as one of the best comedy Of all times. During his nine seasons, the series, centered on a group of employees of a paper company in Scranton, the Dunder Mifflinhas never been afraid to make viewers uncomfortable, by confronting uncomfortable topics bordering on politically incorrectespecially through the gaffes of the inappropriate boss Michael Scottplayed by an extraordinary Steve Carell.
Far from decreasing in recent years the popularity of The Office it has only increased, thanks to streaming on Netflix and other platforms. As is often the case with much-loved series, fans have never stopped hoping that Steve Carell and the rest of the extraordinary ensemble cast of the comedy gathered for a reboot o one revival of the series. Although the hypothesis has never been categorically excluded, we don’t know if a similar project will ever actually see the light. Still, there’s one cast member that she came to in mind one storyline very particular for a reboot. And it’s chaotic in pure style The Office.
Rainn Wilson would have wanted episodes of The Office set in times of pandemic
during ainterview with The Drew Barrymore Show, Rainn Wilson, who in the series available on Netflix plays the workaholic and loyal right-hand man of Michael Scott, Dwight Schrute, revealed his very personal idea for a reboot Of The Office. In particular, the actor revealed that he would have liked him set episodes during the COVID-19 pandemic. “It would have been a lot of fun to shoot ‘The Office’ during the pandemic. If we had episodes set during the pandemic, that would have been greatsaid Rainn Wilson.
Indeed, the actor expressed his full confidence in the fact that the writers would have managed to come up with something really funny starting from this premise. Also, Wilson imagined a prominent role for his characterwho, fans know, not only took over for Steve Carell’s Michael Scott as regional directorbut is always ready to come up with twisted and dangerous plans. And who more than Dwight Schrute would be a corporate champion against the smart working? Here’s Rainn Wilson’s idea:
“The writers of The Office were so good — they would have been able to use the cue in really beautiful ways. I think it would have been: (Dwight) gets a call from the company to get everyone back to the office and everyone is against it. So, one at a time, Dwight must kidnap every member of the cast of ‘The Office’ and take them to Dunder Mifflin in some dark and somewhat inappropriate way”.
Paradoxically, just during the pandemic the comedy with Rainn Wilson and Steve Carell had a new period of popularity, serving as an emotional support for many new and old viewers. And what is certain is that the only way we could bear to relive such a moment again would perhaps be through the reboot designed by Rainn Wilson.
