The universe is a wonderful place where wonderful things happen. For fans of Star Trekfor example, running into a younger version of the mythical Captain Kirk, who in the second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will be played by the veteran of The Vampire Diaries Paul Wesley. In fact, we had already glimpsed James T. Kirk in the finale of the inaugural cycle. The official trailer of the new episodes – streaming on Paramount+ from June 15 – confirms that the character will have a more central role this time around.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 2, Captain Kirk arrives
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds chronicles the adventures of Christopher Pike, Spock and Number One (respectively Anson Mount, Ethan Peck e Rebecca Romijin) as they push the limits of what is known and possible. The series is set in the 23rd century, in the decade preceding the events of the original Star Trekwhich explains why it won’t William Shatner to play Captain Kirk again and why this version of the character will be different from the one known in the 1960s series.
“Our goal has been to tell the story of this particular Kirk, in this time period, who is a completely different Kirk who’s only been touched upon by the Kelvin universe,” he said Henry Alonso Myers referring to the film trilogy produced by J.J. Abrams. “He’s not yet the person he’ll be. He’s got some things to figure out before he becomes that person.” The co-showrunner also teased that we will see his first meeting with his future best friend Spock. “It’s going to be a great moment and we hope people will like what we have in mind,” he said.
