Star Trek Section 31 finally becomes reality. More than four years after we started talking about this spin-off – at the time the platform was still called Cbs All Access – Paramount+ has broken the delay by announcing that it has officially put into production Star Trek: Section 31 starring Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh.
In this special original event film, Yeoh will return as Empress Phillipa Georgiou, a character she first played in the first season of Star Trek: Discovery. In Star Trek: Section 31, Empress Phillipa Georgiou joins a secret Starfleet division tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets and faces the sins of her past. Produced by Cbs Studios, the spin-off will explore a part of the Galaxy first introduced in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and later revived during the second season of Star Trek: Discovery.
“I’m really excited to be back in my family’s Star Trek and in a role I’ve loved for so long, said Michelle Yeoh, who added: “this series has been close to my heart ever since i started the journey to play phillipa at the launch of this new golden age of Star Trek, and seeing her finally get her moment is a dream come true in a year that has shown me the amazing power of never giving up on your dreams. We can’t wait to share and tell you what’s in store for you and until then: Live long and prosper (unless Empress Georgiou decrees otherwise)!”.
