The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel 5: What awaits us in the final season
After scorched earth around her and being kicked off the tour, Midge held on through season four (and performing in a strip club would have been a challenge for any comedian) in an attempt to rebuild her career and her reputation. Finally, we saw her leave the prestigious Carnegie Hall refreshed and ready to face any snowstorm – literal and figurative. After an epiphany in front of the snow-covered billboard of “The Gordon Ford Show,” Midge is now ready to move on and fight for her rise to fame–with nothing to lose and armed only with her sharp, brilliant tongue. She’s as close as ever to the success she’s always dreamed of, she realizes she’s “closer than ever” she’s still a long way off.
In the last few episodes we will see the former stars of A mum for a friend Kelly Bishop e Milo Ventimiglia again as the ruthless Benedetta and the charming Sylvio, the first a rival of Rose and the other a “pastime” of Midge, to which is added Sean Gunn. Given the premises, Reid Scott will play a central role as the host of ‘The Gordon Ford Show’, while Luke Kirby will continue to orbit the protagonist as the equally handsome comedian and her occasional bedfellow Lenny Bruce.
Amy Sherman-Palladino’s letter
Six-time Emmy Award-winning writer, director and executive producer Amy Sherman-Palladino for her work on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, thought writing a letter was the best way to say goodbye to a production that meant a lot to her. “This series has been much more than a work or even a creative venture,” she wrote. “It became my world. I woke up in this world and went to sleep in this world. I saw everything around me in Technicolor.”

She went on to explain that moving away from Rachel Brosnahan’s Miriam ‘Midge’ Maisel and Susie Myerson Alex Borstein it’s the hardest thing he’s ever had to do and he went on to thank everyone who helped bring his vision to life, even though it might seem impossible at times – “The cast, the crew, the crazed pirates who rampaged through our park Brooklyn games trying to get over things that were impossible until they weren’t. Being crazy like me and having people you can turn to… and they were there, blinking twice and then making it happen. Because they are the best.”
“All that And (Palladino) and what we wanted to do was keep the groundwork for these actors who have given so much of their creative treasure to this show. We wanted them to leave feeling that their trip was worth it and well deserved. And, of course, we want them to miss us terribly and hate every other writer and director they’ve ever worked with.” He concluded: “This is our last chance to give our girl the goodbye she deserves… Thank you for being interested in this journey, in this character. My life changed when Rachel Brosnahan entered it. She will never be the same again.”
