Grey’s Anatomy, Caterina Scorsone talks about the fire that destroyed her house
Caterina Scorsone speaks for the first time of the fire that devastated her home and upset her life and that of her family. In a long post published on Instagram on Monday 3 April, the Amelia Shepherd actress in Grey’s Anatomy told of the tragedy that struck the house where she lived with her three daughters Eliza (11 years old), Paloma Michaela known as “Pippa” (6 years) and Arwen Lucinda known as “Lucky” (3 years), had with her husband Rob Giles; the two were married from 2009 to 2020. Due to the fire, Scorsone suffered the loss of the four pets that were part of her family.
“Hello friends ❤️ (cw: fire/mourning). A couple of months ago my house caught fire. As I got my kids ready for bed and finished bathing, smoke began to seep through the drains around the tub. When I looked down the hallway, a river of thick black smoke had already formed and was filling the house. Fires are fast. I had about two minutes to get my three children out of the house and we escaped in little less than our shoes but we walked out, for which I am eternally grateful Heartbroken, we lost all four of our pets . We are still dealing with this loss but we are lucky to have loved them.”
Caterina wanted to underline the aspects that, during this traumatic experience, filled her heart with gratitude: “This is not a post about the fire. This is a community post. It’s a love letter to the incredible people who have shown up and the incredible ways they’ve done it. Thanks to the firefighters and detectives (thanks Trey!) Thanks to my neighbor who answered our frantic knocks on her door. Thanks to my children’s school parents who sent toys and books, to my friends from Grey’s Anatomy and from Shondaland who sent clothes and materials, to my sisters who flew in to handle the logistics so I could be with my children. Thanks to my team who made everything easierScorsone wrote.

The actress then concluded by saying: “We have learned that the only thing that matters is the people (and beings) we love. The only thing that matters is the community. We wouldn’t be here without it and we are very grateful. Thank you. Here are some photos to honor the space we once called home, to say goodbye to the animals that have loved us so much, and to celebrate the fact that we have the one thing we really need: each other. – With love, Catherine”.
