The new chapter in the legendary Indiana Jones saga, The Dial of Destiny, will have its world premiere on May 18 at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival with a tribute to Harrison Ford.
It had been in the air for some time, but now comes the official confirmation. The fifth chapter of a mythical saga to say the least, Indiana Jones and the Quadrant of Destiny will have its world premiere, as an official selection, at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival. before being released in theaters in Italy on 28 June 2023. It will not be the opening film, but it will be presented on the third day, on the evening of 18 May 2023 in the prestigious setting of the Salle Lumiere of the Palazzo del Cinema along the Croisette. It will be an opportunity to repeat the triumph of glamor experienced last year with the return of another cult saga, Top Gun: Maverick.
The iconic music of John Williams will accompany the director on the montée des marches, James Mangoldbut most of all Harrison Ford, to the latest incarnation as the legendary archaeologist, who will also be paid a special tribute to his career, along the lines of what happened last year with Tom Cruise. Along with Ford the rest of the cast: Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Ethann Isidore e Mads Mikkelsen. Just fifteen years ago, in 2008, the previous chapter of the saga was presented, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skulldirected by Steven Spielberg.
“In 1995, I had the honor of coming to Cannes to present my first film, Dolly’s Restaurantat Directors’ Fortnight,” said James Mangold. “Twenty-eight years later, I’m proud to return with a slightly more spectacular film. My legendary partners and I are very excited to share this with you new Indiana Jones adventure“.
The reference to partners, of course, is related to Spielberg and Lucas, who it is not known, but certainly to hope, can also be present on the red carpet of an evening that promises to be very special.
