ScrubsBill Lawrence’s TV series, continues to have a loyal group of fans, even though it ended thirteen years ago. For this reason, at a time when so many shows are returning with more or less successful revivals, fans still dream of being able to walk through the doors of the Sacred Heart one last time. For years, the actors and the creator of the show have been promising a surprise that could bring together some of the most beloved characters such as JD, Bob Kelso, Perry Cox, Carla Espinosa, Elliot Reid and all the others. The actors Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes and John C. McGinley have always said they are ready to reprise their roles at any time (even perhaps in an attempt to make up for the disappointing ninth season). Until now, however, no project has taken shape and everything has burst like a soap bubble. In these last years Bill Lawrence preferred to work on something new and pulled out of the hat Ted Lasso and more recently Shrinking.
Finally, Bill Lawrence has some encouraging news about the highly anticipated revival of Scrubs.
Could a film that brings together (almost) the entire cast of the beloved comedy be made? According to Bill Lawrence it is inevitable that the project will come to life sooner or later. The creator of the series said it during an interview with Variety to promote his new dramedy, Shrinking. When asked by reporters if he plans to do a future revival of his most famous show, Bill Lawrence said the words that fans have wanted to hear for a long time:
“I think it’s inevitable that it will happen. We often joke to each other that the first time we weren’t supposed to see each other for six months then we might end up doing a Scrubs reunion. The actors in that show’s cast and the writers are so good that they’re all already working on other projects. The main reason for doing something like this would not be work, but because we actually love spending time together.”
In short, he confirmed that the cast, writers and creator of Scrubs they are all determined to give this last great gift to the public. However did not leak any information about the timing: we do not know when the project will take shape, but Lawrence assures that it will.
To be honest too Zach Braff he recently spoke about this possibility on the occasion of a panel organized at the Paley Center for Media in New York City. The actor had assured that both he and the rest of the cast would be happy to return to their characters, if Bill Lawrence had given them the right idea. These were his words:
“This is a good question for him. It all depends on him (pointing to Bill Lawrence). I think that if he could organize it, each of us would say yes.“
