The ABC medical drama, available in Italy for streaming on Disney+, will continue with a new showrunner.
Grey’s Anatomy will continue to tell the stories of the doctors and patients of Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital. The American ABC has renewed the successful medical drama created by Shonda Rhimes for a 20th season, airing this fall. Furthermore, Meg Marinis will take the reins of the series as new showrunner, replacing the outgoing Krista Vernoff.
Grey’s Anatomy welcomes Meg Marinis to season 20
In fact, the name of the Marinis is not new to the public Grey’s Anatomy. An executive producer on the series since season 15, Marinis started out as an assistant writer in season three and worked her way up to the position of writer and then executive producer, writing a total of 35 episodes to date. Vernoff, who announced her departure at the end of season 19 last January, has been driving Grey’s Anatomy and the spin-off Station 19 dal 2017.
“It has been the privilege of a lifetime to have the job of driving Grey’s Anatomy in the past six years and Station 19 in the past four,” Vernoff said in a statement. “The passion of the dedicated fandoms and the impact these series have on hearts and minds cannot go unnoticed. The sheer talent of these two extraordinary casts and brilliant writing teams is beyond measure, and these crews work their magic week after week.”
The renewal of Grey’s Anatomy was among the most predictable of the season, thanks to consistently good ratings, albeit down from the past – US TV’s longest-running primetime medical drama continues to be ABC’s most-watched series in the important demographic 18 -49. However, yet another farewell of weight in the cast is likely to complicate things. Ellen Pompeo he is no longer among the faces of the series, with his last episode as a regular cast member airing last month. The actress does, however, plan to return as Meredith Gray periodically, and she will do so in at least a couple of episodes before the season finale in May, one of which will be the latter. Furthermore, it is very recent news that Kelly McCreary she will step down as Maggie Pierce, Meredith’s half-sister, in the April 13 episode of ABC, after nine years on the show. However, she too will occasionally stop by Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital to see her old friends and colleagues, as early as the May finale.
