Swarm: cast and plot of the new Amazon television series
The story is about Andrea “Dre” Greenea young woman who is obsessed with a pop star named Ni’Jah (whose fandom is precisely called Swarm, “the swarm”). This obsession with her takes a disturbing turn when she joins an obscure cult that idolizes the singer. The protagonist is played by Dominique Fishbackalready seen in the miniseries Show Me A Heroin the drama series The Deuce and in the movie Judas and the Black Messiah. In the cast are also present Damson Idris (Snowfall), Rory Culkin (brother of the more famous Macaulay), Kate Lyn Sheil (House of Cards), Chloe Bailey (actress and singer and sister of Halle Bailey, protagonist of the live action Disney The little Mermaid) e Paris Jackson (daughter of the late King of Pop Michael). Bailey plays Marissa “Ris” Jackson, Dre’s friend and roommate, while Paris stars as Hailey, a stripper whose stage name is Halsey. Apparently, the figure of the fictitious international pop star Ni’Jah (played by Nirine S. Brown) is instead inspired by Beyoncé: watching the series, in fact, it quickly catches the eye how the sect that idealizes Ni’Jah has several things in common with the Queen Bey fan base.
