Grey’s Anatomy is the longest-running television series currently airing on ABC, the first episode of which debuted almost twenty years ago, in 2005. The television series initially followed the romantic and professional travails of Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), who is both the narrator and the protagonist of a cast that has included over the years Katherine Heigl, Patrick Dempsey, Sandra Oh, Sara Ramirez and many others.
Earlier this year, in season number 19, in episode 7, “I’ll Follow the Sun“, Pompeo left the series as a regular cast member after 409 episodes.
Now the television series has to say goodbye to another character
According to Deadline, there are now more cast changes for the 19th season of Grey’s Anatomy. The character Maggie Pierce played by the actress Kelly McCreary is set to leave the series after having starred for nine seasons. The latest episode of Piercediscovered stepsister of the Grey over the course of the very first few seasons she appeared in and was responsible for cardiothoracic surgery, it will air on April 13.
The exits of the scene Pompeo (who explained in an interview why it was time to let go of the tv series) e McCreary however, they are not definitive. Both are already set to reappear in a special episode that will air a little later than the current season, and Pompeo he will continue to executive produce and narrate the television series. However, their exits leave a large void in the main cast, who have changed significantly since the show’s first season.
There are now only two cast members who have been part of the main one in every episode of Grey’s Anatomy: Chandra Wilson e James Pickens Jr.
Wilson plays the doctor Miranda Baileywho has gone from intern to chief of surgery over the course of the series. Pickens Jr. plays the doctor Richard Webberwho was the original chief of surgery and a former flame of the mother’s Meredith, Ellis Grey (Kate Burton).
Though the two are the longest-serving cast members still on the series, there are still a few series veterans sticking around for the time being. Between these, Owen Hunt whose role is played by Kevin McKidd, which originated in season five, and Jo Wilson played by Camilla Luddington, who started out as a recurring character in season eight before being promoted to the main cast the following season. Although the form of the cast of Grey’s Anatomy might change, longtime fans will still have some familiar faces to guide them through the show’s uncertain future.
